Lydia 03:31
Oh Lydia, she don’t like how I sing I don’t like how she looks at me Cuz her words, well they are so mean But those eyes are inviting Then she tells me I’m the worst person in her life And then she tells me all she wants from me is to go away and die But I don’t believe a single word that she says Oh tell it to me Lydia Gotta gotta get it Lydia Come on tell it to me Lydia Little little lying Lydia Creativity, well that aint my thing I’m sure that’s what she’s thinking Cuz my lyrics, they are too crude I’m sure she’d hate this Then she tells me I’m the worst person in her life And then she tells me all she wants from me is to go away and die But I don’t believe a single word that she says Oh tell it to me Lydia Gotta gotta get it Lydia Come on tell it to me Lydia Gotta gotta get it Lydia Living in my head Lydia Little little lying Lydia

Maria Maria 03:06
Maria Maria, Well I think I’d like to meet her Cuz I’ve been staring at this picture For too long know Maria Maria, Well she looks like the girl for me Cuz she paints with poetry Like the sunrise in the fall I just want to find what frames those perfect eyes But I don’t think it’s kind Oooo left or right Maria Maria, well I admit this is getting strange I hardly know her name But still I romanticize and fantasize Oh Maria Maria, I imagine what she'd say Is she sick of these internet mind games The ones that go on and on and on On and on and on I just want to find what frames those perfect eyes But I don’t think it’s kind Oooo left or right Oooo left or right

If you needed to talk You should have known that I’d be there Cuz it’s been that way since we were three Running falling and breaking our teeth Oh brother, when did I grow so old? When you left home Well ya thought you were alone But there were people there that you could not see Cheering you and and stomping their feet Oh brother, When did you get so cold? You should whisper in my ear All the words that you wanted them to hear Get it out of your head So I can shout back loud and clear All the words that you used to fear Get them out of our heads You used to say Life was nothing but a video game And you could hit restart at the end of your line Record your mistakes and make the rest fine But no, that’s not how the story goes You should whisper in my ear All the words that you wanted them to hear Get it out of your head So I can shout back loud and clear All the words that you used to fear Get them out of our heads There was no reason to leave There was no reason to leave And since you ended it I don’t know what to believe I’m just a broken many begging for his reprise

Play It Back 04:22
She was never gonna be the one She was always just late night fun But I don’t blame him for being blind Just do a little better next time Cuz she was leaving from the start Always bound to break his heart And know he’s left to the drunk call game And we all know that ends on way Because she won’t answer that Definitely not calling back Because she don’t love you But you don’t believe me So now you gotta learn on your own That the kids these day They’re just looking for a weekend call away He was never gonna be the one Yeah he was always just one and done Now I don’t blame her for being blind Just be a little smarter next time Cuz he was leaving from the start Always bound to break her heart And now they’ll left to the drunk call game And we all know that ends with shame Because he won’t answer that Definitely not calling back Because he don’t love you But you don’t believe me So now you gotta learn on your own That the kids these day They’re just looking for a weekend call away He goes living in his one-night stands and she goes loving another man And they won’t understand Keep playing it back in their heads again

Well don’t you hate it When no one likes your Instagram post Even when ya tag it With every person that you know So we refresh refresh refresh refresh Until our batteries die And it’s in that moment When we wake up and realize That we’re all so vain Simple and Plain Doesn’t it suck? When the man he makes us leave home When all we want to do Is sit around and smoke So we complain complain complain complain When the man he aint around And we work and work and work and work On life’s broken merry-go-round Oh we’re all so vain Simple and plain Yeah we’re all so vain Never gonna change Isn’t is sad? When this hypocrite he writes a song And it makes it worse it makes it worse When you can’t help but sing along Oh we’re all so vain Simple and plain And we like it that way

The Monkey 03:25
Everyone likes it when you’re one of them. No they can’t stand a little difference Some cookie cutter botox renegade No girl I want to misbehave But still I play on in their mascaraed Laughter is gold inside their game They can’t see it’s all make-believe Cuz they’ll never get the real me So I’ll do your dance And I’ll be your monkey And I’ll act the fool It’ll be so fucking funny Just dance Just dance We all love staring in the mirror Helps us think a little clearer Look in your eyes and learn how they lie Fight back that deception and they’ll think you’re fine Now don’t eat unless you’re hungry Don’t speak less you got something to say Our thoughts will boil and marinade But it’s just a little game we play So I’ll do your dance And I’ll be your monkey And I’ll act the fool It’ll be so fucking funny Just dance Just dance

Carpe Diem 05:06
Oh can you help me find some other life, my dear For I have fallen down and could use a hand thats’s sincere And if you took mine we would travel wide and experience our years So I wont rush your mind, you can take your time, I’ll be waiting down here But if you’d come with me We’d feast in Italy And camp out in the coliseums Oh what a life living by Carpe Diem Can you handle this, I know I’ve been quick to implore For the day has just begun and I’m already asking for more But I wont be waiting around, theres a world to be found And I’m ready to explore So if you could think it through, In a night to two, I’d love to get off this floor But if you’d come with me We’d feast in Italy And camp out in the coliseums And when you need romance I’d take you to France We’ll drink our wine on the setting sun And when there’s time to save We’ll visit Eleanor’s grave London can one day be more than a dream Oh what a life living by Carpe Diem

Sun Day 04:03
If we measured all of time We’d each live one day If we weighed our lives We’d each float away But today there ain’t a cloud in the sky So why should I spend it inside? There’s just so much left to do And I want to do it all Before the sun decides to fall I’ll be gray at 33 But that does not matter to me As the years go soaring by I’ll be the one that’s alive Cuz today there ain’t a cloud in the sky So why should I spend it inside? There’s just so much left to do And I want to do it all Before the sun decides to fall

I don’t know if your angels can fly All I know is that the devil’s in the sky And he’s been pushing me to Reno Trying to steal a Johnny Cash line He’s telling me I got to go left or right Well one way wants me to bow to god’s might And the other wants my money Well keep your hand in your own pocket man Oh April cam with the rain Oh April cam with the rain Oh April cam in the rain I don’t know where my meaning lies I just say some words and hope that they rhyme Cuz the people at the Inkwell They got no idea what I’m saying Hey hey hey Smoke your bottles and drink your weed Close your eyes and float to sweet serenity Cuz it all don’t matter Bernie ain’t gonna save you Oh April cam with the rain Oh April cam with the rain Oh April cam in the rain I’ll say this once I an’t saying it again There ain’t no use changing the words in my head So I’m running back to Reno Just to watch him die So it don’t matter what I say I’m just here to entertain So April came with the rain April came with the rain April came in the rain

Bike Song 03:52
I left you last night When you were still mine I left you tied up Safe and tight But when I awoke The chains binding you broke And you were gone Gone gone gone gone gone Now someone new is riding you Someone new is going downtown on you Someone new Someone new’s riding you Now everyone looks like you On the street And I feel the pain In my feet I’m forced down the green line Sick to my stomach all the time Because you’re gone Gone gone gone gone gone Now someone new is riding you Someone new is going downtown on you Someone new Someone new’s riding you

I know that every man in this room They can remember seventeen Oh lets walk into a daydream Well there were classroom fantasies And the girls that were our queens Well I too was young And I fell for love The way most adolescents do She wanted to see the country So I filler her mind with scenes Of mountaintops and city shops and everything in-between So I made that girl hate me I forgot her birthday Showed up a day late Sang her least favorite song Because she wanted a family And I needed the big screen So I did the right thing And told her to move on But these days I’m thinking of The girl in all my songs I know that everyone has their ghosts They follow us where we go We watch them on our tv shows And they’re singing on the radio I met mine on a Monday And I was hers by a Tuesday But the weekend was something we never knew Cuz she was walking her way And I was walking my way I don’t think this could have ever changed So I made that girl hate me I forgot her birthday Showed up a day late Sang her least favorite song Because she wanted a family And I needed the big screen So I did the right thing And told her to move on Yeah that’s just what she did She found a new man Stuck with her old plans And now their kids are growing up Well I think I’d like to meet them But I don’t know if I can Build up my courage And look her in the eyes And see some other life That could have been Mine But these days I’m thinking of The girl in all my songs

about

Well here it is guys. Spent over four years on these recordings. We had countless bandmates and friends and family come in and experience the creation of these songs. So excited to share it all with you and I am immensely grateful for all the support throughout the years. Also thanks to my buddy Kenny Bieber for reviewing the album. You can find his whole review on the blog, Asbury Park Vibes.

"With so much musically and lyrically on display, what ultimately defines Carpe Diem as a triumph is the honesty and hopefulness it contains. In many ways Carpe Diem is an album about being grateful for what you have and on tracks such as the title track, “Sunday” and even heartbreak closer “Ghosts” the idea of being human is celebrated warts and all. It’s this level of humanity and depth that truly allows the material here to resonate and immerse listeners fully. Carpe Diem has many strengths but perhaps its greatest is that it’s able to remind us we’re all human and in this together and it’s a tremendously resonant message especially in a year such as this. The fact it’s able to pull it off while sounding this ambitious and artful is the icing on the cake. If you have an opportunity to experience this record I highly suggest you seize it."
